LEGALLY BLONDE THEATRE REVIEW
"Legally Blonde is so pink it is as though the IRA planted a bomb in the late Dame Barbara Cartlands laundry basket."

Legally Blonde - a new musical that is sure to become a classic
If you're someone who loves checking out brand-new musicals in the West End, then buying theatre tickets to Legally Blonde could be perfect.
Having first been seen in San Francisco in 2007, the musical version of the novel and film of the same name soon transferred to Broadway and the West End, amid anticipation that was likened to Beatlemania by its producers.
Taking £2 million in advanced sales prior to its opening on January 13th 2010, Legally Blonde has been one of the most eagerly-awaited West End shows ever and is sure to delight young girls, as well as their mums and older sisters.
The storyline of the musical adaptation stays true to the 2001 film, which famously starred diminutive actress Reese Witherspoon, but also has some added action in the form of a great score.
It tells the story of sorority girl Elle Woods, who is at college and who appears to have it all - good looks, a mane of naturally blonde hair, devoted friends and a dashing boyfriend in the form of frat boy Warner Huntington.
When he invites her to dinner one evening, she believes he is about to propose, but he instead dumps her in favour of studious Vivian, whom he believes will be taken a little more seriously.
Determined Elle soon vows to get Warner back and enrolls at Harvard Law School on the same course in a bid to prove that she is no bimbo.
However, will she be able to keep up when plucked from her comfort zone of the mall? And how will she fare when she is assigned to a work placement that involves a real-life murder case?
Legally Blonde's solid plot and great lead character mean it makes a great musical
Legally Blonde was a huge hit in movie theatres around the world when it was released, but its storyline of triumph over oppression and stereotyping is as relevant today as it was almost a decade ago.
Consequently, it is sure to make a great impression on audiences at the Savoy Theatre in London in its new, musical form.
Director Jerry Mitchell recently told the Guardian that he "jumped at the chance" to turn Legally Blonde into a musical as he was sure that Elle would be a fantastic stage character.
"She's a heroine I could easily see singing and dancing about what she is thinking and feeling," he remarked.
With lively songs and a heart-warming storyline, Legally Blonde is sure to become a classic in London's theatreland - buy theatre tickets for it soon and join Elle as she finds that believing in yourself will never go out of fashion.
