Danielle Hope 'is an excellent Dorothy' in The Wizard of Oz
Tuesday, 1 March 2011
Danielle Hope has been praised for her portrayal of Dorothy in new West End musical The Wizard of Oz.
The performer was chosen by viewers of Over the Rainbow out of thousands of hopefuls last year and Deanna Delamotta from the Manchester Evening News said she will definitely repay the faith the public placed in her.
She explained that Hope shows as much "vulnerability and engaging appeal" as Judy Garland did in the 1939 movie, with her rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow bringing a tear to the eye.
Ms Delamotta also said that Hope has mastered Dorothy's American accent easily and looks very comfortable with the various dogs that play Toto too.
She concluded by calling The Wizard of Oz a "must-see show" and recommending it to anyone heading to the West End soon.
The musical will be booking at the London Palladium until September 17th 2011 initially, although extensions are likely.
