People with London theatre tickets to enjoy Lloyd Webber Rice collaboration
Thursday, 24 February 2011
London theatre tickets will allow tourists and residents alike to see Andrew Lloyd Webber's much-awaited version of The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium.
After getting the go-ahead based on a script for the new stage show that he penned himself, Lloyd Webber then approached Rice to write some alternative lyrics for its musical numbers and the songwriter agreed, the composer told the Telegraph.
Having achieved popular acclaim with their 1976 collaboration Evita, Lloyd Webber claimed that he was not intentionally seeking to recreate that success.
"It really wasn't as if I'd been looking for an opportunity for us to work together again. I just thought it was the sort of thing Tim might like and which he'd do very well," he told the newspaper.
The show opens on March 1st, with a preview on February 28th and theatre lovers have until September 17th to grab some tickets, priced from £27.50.
