We Will Rock You to appear on a stamp
Thursday, 24 February 2011
The popularity of the musical We Will Rock You has been recognised by the Royal Mail, which is set to feature the production on a stamp.
It is one of four West End shows to take pride of place on the new run of first class stamps, along with Oliver, Blood Brothers and Monty Python's Spamalot.
We Will Rock You, written by Ben Elton and members of Queen, is currently being staged at the Dominion Theatre, where it is the longest-running production of its kind.
The musical tells the story of a young dreamer in a world where originality and individualism is prohibited.
Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga and We Will Rock You are among the classic Queen songs that feature in the performance.
Me and My Girl, Billy Elliot, Return to the Forbidden Planet and The Rocky Horror Show were also honoured by the Royal Mail by having their image on a run of second class stamps.
