Wicked star 'living out her dream'
Wednesday, 23 February 2011
The singer playing the green witch in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre London has described how playing the part is a dream come true for her.
Speaking to BBC News, Rachel Tucker explained that ever since she heard the soundtrack she wanted to be involved in the production.
Fans of the television programme I'll Do Anything may recognise the Belfast singer as one of the finalists on the show, which saw her losing out on the chance to play Nancy in the West End.
Tucker has put that disappointment behind her and come back stronger, winning the 'best takeover in a role' gong at the Whatsonstage.com awards on Sunday (February 20th).
"To be nominated was a big surprise and to be recognised for something you get a lot of pleasure doing every night is a bonus," she told the news provider.
The Northern Irish star plays Elphaba in Wicked - the story of how two young sorceresses become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West in the magical land of Oz.
