Shrek performer returns home to guide theatre hopefuls
Tuesday, 15 February 2011
A performer who is set to act in Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane has returned to his home town in the Midlands to help children in the local community follow their artistic inklings.
Stuart Price, who will begin rehearsing for Shrek in the West End soon, has gone back to Kidderminster to run a musical theatre workshop at Birmingham's Midland Arts Centre, the Kidderminster Shuttle reported.
The sell-out event was held on behalf of Birmingham Ormiston Academy, a new centre that encourages the digital, creative and performing arts.
Gaynor Cheshire, principal of the academy, said: "The workshop was a great success and it was fantastic to get such positive feedback from parents and students. One parent told us that it was great to have something like this in the West Midlands- local students will no longer have to commute long distances to gain a specialist creative education."
Fans of Shrek will be pleased to hear that the musical will include a performance on I'm a Believer, as well as several new songs.
