Tuesday, 15 February 2011
Theatre lovers will be dismayed to hear that Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage is set to close soon.
The production, which has been performed at the Aldwych Theatre since 2006, is set to end its run on July 9th this year, the show's producers have announced.
"It has been an absolute pleasure to bring this much-loved and iconic story to life on stage night after night and we want to thank our tremendous cast and company for making Dirty Dancing such a huge success in London," a statement from the show's producers read.
However, Dirty Dancing fans will be pleased to hear that the musical is set to begin a two-year national tour towards the end of 2011.
The musical combines all the romance, raunchy dance moves and elements of self-discovery as the film version, while also featuring new scenes that were designed for the stage performance.
