Wicked is granted West End extension
Wednesday, 9 February 2011
Hit musical Wicked has been granted another extension in the West End, it has been revealed.
The show's official website states that tickets for the show at the Apollo Victoria Theatre will now be available until at least April 30th 2012.
This is six months longer than originally scheduled and reflects the continuing demand for the musical, which tells the untold story of the witches of Oz.
Anyone who likes matinee performances may also be pleased to know that nine extra afternoon shows have been added, including several around the 2011 Christmas period.
Wicked stars Rachel Tucker as Elphaba, Louise Dearman as Glinda and Cassandra Compton as Nessarose and has now been seen by more than 2.5 million people in London.
Last month, producer Michael McCabe told Sky News he thinks people are continuing to flock to Wicked because they know it will be good thanks to word of mouth recommendations.
