Celebrities and West End stars team up to help beat cancer
Friday, 4 February 2011
Celebrities and stars from London's West End have teamed up to take part in a mini-musical that is aimed at encouraging more people to take part in Race for Life.
Jeff Brazier and Michelle Heaton are among the famous faces to have got involved, along with performers from shows such as Chicago and Oliver!
They have filmed a six-minute advert for Cancer Research UK's event that is to be screened at cinemas nationwide before various chick flicks.
However, it is not just an ordinary ad, as it tells the story of Race for Life through song and dance routines like a true musical.
It is hoped that the 'musicommercial' will lead to more women signing up for Race for Life all over the UK.
Cancer Research UK spokesperson Natasha Dickinson said: "I'm not sure what Gershwin, Sondheim or Lloyd Webber would think, but we are excited to be pioneering this new medium where art meets advertising."
Race for Life is Britain's biggest female-only fundraising event and has so far generated more than £362 million to help beat cancer.
