London theatre tickets are prize for girl's fundraising efforts
Wednesday, 2 February 2011
A young girl who used her entrepreneurial skills to raise money for charity has been rewarded with London theatre tickets.
Rebecca Clark, a year 12 pupil at King Edward VI School in Morpeth, sold 82 wristbands with free lollies for the Diana Award, which aims to celebrate the achievements of disadvantaged young people in the UK.
She managed to raise a grand total of £174 by approaching fellow pupils, teachers and neighbours and won the Inter-Regional Fundraising Challenge as a result.
The organisers invited her to London to be presented with a certificate and two tickets to Wicked, as well as the opportunity to meet ones of its stars Lee Mead backstage.
"I am still selling bands and take every opportunity as it arises to promote and sell," commented Rebecca.
Mead recently told the Mail on Sunday that he feels lucky to be in Wicked, as it has taken the world by storm.
