Charles and Camilla get sneak peek at The Wizard of Oz

Wednesday, 2 February 2011

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have enjoyed a sneak preview of The Wizard of Oz before it hits the London Palladium next week.

The royals attended a gala for The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts this week, which involved entertainment from a variety of performers, the Associated Press reports.

Among them was Danielle Hope, who is to play Dorothy in the musical and who sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow for the enjoyment of those in attendance.

Also present was Rowan Atkinson, who has previously appeared in Oliver! He read Roald Dahl's critique of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

"It was just magical to perform tonight, it was like the preview of the preview. I am really excited about the start of the show," enthused Hope.

The Wizard of Oz begins previews on February 7th 2011 and is currently booking until September 17th, although this date is likely to be extended.
