Legally Blonde cast celebrate after cast change
Friday, 28 January 2011
The arrival of a new actress as part of the Legally Blonde production at the Savoy Theatre was celebrated with a party in London.
Susan McFadden, who is Westlife singer Brian McFadden's sister, has replaced Sheridan Smith as the star of the show Elle Woods.
She will appear on stage with various top stage actors in the West End show, including Denise van Outen, who plays divorced manicurist Paulette.
McFadden has previously enjoyed success treading the boards in productions of Grease and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, with the 27-year-old telling Broadway.com the character of Elle in the musical is not far removed from her personality.
"I'm quite a girly girl anyway, so maybe my Elle has a little bit more innocence ... she's not so much a dumb blonde as an innocent and naive blonde," she was quoted as saying.
The new Legally Blonde cast member stressed that she will be playing the part differently to Smith.
