Blood Brothers 'will make you laugh and cry'
Friday, 28 January 2011
People who want to see an emotional roller-coaster of a musical should head to the Phoenix Theatre to watch Blood Brothers.
This is the suggestion of Nicola Saunders, who is directing an amateur version of the West End show in Congleton and who said she has always admired the story, the Sentinel reports.
Blood Brothers focuses on a poverty-stricken woman named Mrs Johnstone who is forced to give one of her newborn twin boys up for adoption.
He goes to a rich family while his brother stays poor - but they are set on a tragic collision course when they accidentally meet years later.
"It's the sort of superbly-crafted play that sweeps you along in its emotional examination of class, fate and destiny. It makes you laugh and cry," Ms Saunders commented.
The Daily Mail's Natalie Wain recently praised Natasha Hamilton for her performance as Mrs Johnstone after she joined the show earlier this week.
