West End Live heads to Trafalgar Square
Tuesday, 25 January 2011
Trafalgar Square will host the 2011 West End Live celebration, which last year attracted almost 250,000 people.
The occasion is normally held at Leicester Square, but it is being moved due to renovation taking place there.
West End Live is a free theatre festival run by Westminster City Council, with the top shows in area conventionally getting involved and delivering performances for happy punters.
Among the pieces included in the 2010 celebration were top-selling acts such as Love Never Dies, Billy Elliot, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You.
Commenting on the shows, president of the Society of London Theatre Nica Burns remarked: "London has the best theatre in the world and West End Live is a fantastic opportunity for people to sample some of the West End’s most popular shows for free."
This year, the event will be held on June 18th and 19th, but there has so far been no indication as to which productions will make an appearance.
