Miranda Hart I'd love to make my West End debut

Monday, 24 January 2011

Comedian Miranda Hart has revealed she would love to make her stage debut in London's West End at some point.

She received the Queen of Comedy prize at the British Comedy Awards this week and said backstage that although she loves writing her sitcom, she would love to try something different.

"That would be lovely and then I could write in the day, though that is probably completely unrealistic," Hart commented.

She added that she would love to be in Annie and thinks it would be great to play Miss Hannigan, the alcoholic orphanage matron in the musical.

Miranda will move from BBC2 to BBC1 for the next series.

Annie was last seen at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 1999 and starred Lily Savage - aka Paul O'Grady - as Miss Hannigan.

However, with Playbill recently reporting that it is set to reopen on Broadway in autumn 2012, there is a possibility it may return to the UK in the future.
