Love Never Dies 'has vastly improved thanks to changes'
Tuesday, 18 January 2011
West End impresario Bill Kenwright has made a number of improvements to Love Never Dies at the Adelphi Theatre in London, according to one reviewer.
Writing for the Daily Express, Mark Shenton credited the Everton FC chairman as being responsible for many of the tweaks to Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to The Phantom of the Opera.
"Like the good football leader he is, he has kicked it into shape, providing major structural and emotional improvements that lend it a sense of continuity and coherence," the journalist remarked.
Mr Shenton awarded the production a rating of four out of five and claimed the show has been "vastly improved".
One of the changes that the reviewer highlighted is that the audience sees the phantom immediately, rather than having to sit through an overly-long preamble before getting acquainted with the masked character.
Love Never Dies opened in March 2010, but was temporarily closed in November so the organisers could revamp the production.
