Wicked 'represents value for money'
Monday, 17 January 2011
Going to see Wicked in the West End represents good value for theatre fans, its executive producer has said.
Speaking to Sky News, Michael McCabe explained that as people try to be more careful with their money following the global economic downturn, they are turning to shows they know are excellent as a treat.
"They may have had a personal recommendation from a friend but it's also value for money," he commented.
Mr McCabe added that a lot of effort has gone into making Wicked so successful.
"This is millions of pounds' worth of equipment and show," he said.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Wicked had recorded its highest ever week of ticket sales over the festive period, taking in £1,002,885 for the seven days commencing December 27th 2010.
The musical is showing at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and tells the story of the witches of Oz before they encountered Dorothy.
