Viewers see Matt Lucas taking a journey in Les Miserables
Thursday, 30 December 2010
Fans of Les Miserables were given a treat over the festive season thanks to a BBC programme showing Matt Lucas' role in the musical's 25th birthday celebrations.
The Little Britain comedian appeared in a special version of the show at the O2 Arena earlier this year and TV viewers were able to see him preparing to take on the role of Thenardier in a fly on the wall documentary.
Les Mis at 25: Matt Lucas Dreams the Dream showed the 36-year-old taking part in rehearsals and then getting ready to go on stage in front of thousands of fans.
Although he said he was "pretty nervous", he added that his part in Les Miserables was the best present he could possibly give his mum, apart from appearing in Coronation Street.
Lucas added that although it was Oliver! that originally got him into musicals, Les Mis is his favourite.
Last month, Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail confirmed that tenor Alfie Boe is to join the long-running West End show at the Queen's Theatre as Jean Valjean next year.
