Phantom of the Opera cellist 'could enter the record books'
Thursday, 23 December 2010
One of the cellists from Phantom of the Opera could enter the record books tonight (December 23rd 2010) as he plays his 10,000th performance in the long-running musical.
Bob Norris has been with the production since 1986 and has only missed an average of three shows a year since then, WhatsonStage.com reports.
If the people from Guinness confirm the claims from the production staff, Mr Norris will get a place in the record books for his longevity.
Principal cellist David Burrowes said his colleague is thoughtful and takes great pride in his job.
"The members of the orchestra and the cello deputies of Phantom will be holding a lunch in his honour. We salute him for this magnificent achievement," he added.
On October 23rd 2010, a celebration was held at Her Majesty's Theatre to mark the 10,000th performance of Phantom of the Opera, with Andrew Lloyd Webber appearing on stage to thank fans for their support.
