Theatre groups taking part in Billy Youth Theatre 2011 announced
Wednesday, 15 December 2010
The schools and theatre groups taking part in an initiative organised by the producers of Billy Elliot the Musical have been announced.
Billy Youth Theatre 2011 offers selected participants the chance to perform a specially-adapted version of the show in venues around the country and is supported by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall and musical supervisor Martin Koch.
According to Broadway World, a number of youth organisations attended the Victoria Palace Theatre this week to perform in front of the scheme's organisers.
Among the selected theatre troupes are Bromage Theatre Company from Nuneaton, Fame School of the Arts from Preston, Happy Feet Dance Company from Stoke on Trent and Jago Performers of Worcester.
Not only will the pupils at these organisations be able to perform the show locally, but they will also be invited to the West End to tread the boards at the Victoria Palace in July next year.
The booking period for Billy Elliot was recently extended from April until December 17th 2011.
