Grease 'will leave you full of nostalgia'
Thursday, 9 December 2010
Musical lovers have been reminded of the charm and catchy tunes of the worldwide smash hit Grease, which one writer named in his all-time top ten and hailed as a classic of its genre.
Writing for 411mania.com, Mike Gorman compared the original 1978 motion picture favourably to modern-day successors such as High School Musical and said it remains a highly enjoyable nostalgia trip with some memorable songs.
"Grease captures the spirit of the 50s greaser era," he explained. "The movie's theme may be [to] never change who you really are, but by the end you'll want to get yourself a leather jacket with a sweet popped collar."
Mr Gorman pointed out that the flick, which has since been adapted into a long-running stage show, made international stars of lead actors John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The musical is still a regular fixture at London's Piccadilly Theatre, with performances running from Monday to Thursday and also on Saturdays.
