Shortlist announced for LES Theatre Awards 2010
Monday, 22 November 2010
The shortlist has been announced for this year's London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, in what may be of interest to fans of plays and musicals.
Stephen Fry is to reveal the winners at a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel on Sunday (November 28th 2010) and presenters will include Benedict Cumberbatch of TV's Sherlock Holmes.
Among the nominees for the Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress is Sheridan Smith, who is currently dazzling both audiences and critics in Legally Blonde.
The musical itself is also up for a gong, as are Les Miserables and Passion.
Meanwhile, David Suchet makes an appearance in the list of nominees for best actor as a result of his star turn in the recent play All My Sons.
Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm is sure to be celebrating too after being nominated in the category of Most Outstanding Newcomer for her portrayal of Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers, a part she also took to Liverpool.
This comes after Smith won the Caron Keating prize for musical theatre at the recent Co-operative Variety Club Showbiz Awards.
