Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is given West End extension
Thursday, 4 November 2010
London theatre fans will now have longer to go and see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert after it received an extension to its booking period.
The musical will now be showing at the Palace Theatre until at least January 7th 2012.
Adapted from a 1994 movie of the same name, Priscilla tells the story of a drag queen who decides to take a road trip in a battered old bus to meet his estranged wife and the son he has never seen.
It has received excellent reviews from the press since it opened in March 2009, with the Telegraph calling it "wildly entertaining". As a result, the show has been extended several times because of popular demand.
Ben Richards is currently starring as Tick in London, while Ray Meagher of Home and Away fame recently joined as Bob.
He told the Sydney Morning Herald he was looking forward to performing, but is thankful the part doesn't require him to wear heels.
