Blood Brothers 'is a compelling drama about life's big questions'
Wednesday, 3 November 2010
Blood Brothers has been recommended to theatre fans by its director, who explained that it is a compelling drama about nature versus nurture.
The musical, written by Willy Russell, tells the story of twins Edward and Mickey, who are separated at birth and go on to live completely different lives.
Edward is privileged but smothered by his adoptive mother, while Mickey is poor and ends up in prison.
Hugh Neill told Stuff.co.nz that Blood Brothers asks big questions about class, love and family in a way that really makes people think.
"But it also has some wonderful music as well," he added.
Last month, Michael Worrall from PlatformOnline said Blood Brothers is almost perfect and revealed he has been to see it six times because it is so compelling.
The critic urged anyone who has not yet done so to go and see it at the Phoenix Theatre in London's West End, where it has been booking since 1988.
