Longlist announced for LES theatre awards

A longlist has been announced naming the nominees for this year's London Evening Standard Theatre Awards.
The winners are to be revealed at a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel on November 28th 2010, but judges have their work cut out in the meantime deciding on who should be credited for being the pick of the crop.
Among those vying for the title of best actress is Sheridan Smith, who was nominated after wowing critics in Legally Blonde, although she has stiff competition from big names such as Zoe Wanamaker.
Meanwhile, David Suchet (All My Sons) and Simon Russell Beale (Deathtrap) have made the list of nominees for best actor.
Contenders for the title of best musical this year include Legally Blonde, Les Miserables, Sweet Charity and Hair.
The London Evening Standard Theatre Awards will be followed next month by the annual WhatsonStage.com awards.
Legally Blonde may be well-represented at each after delighting audiences and reviewers alike since in January opening.
