Colin Firth I almost missed my own West End play once
Monday, 25 October 2010
Colin Firth has revealed that he once nearly missed a play in London's West End - but the problem was that he was supposed to be in it.
The British actor said he suffers from terrible stage fright and suddenly found himself needing to get out before he trod the boards in a London theatre production ten years ago.
He went outside for some fresh air, but a fire door closed behind him, trapping him outside with minutes to go before curtain-up.
"I had to go around the front, through the audience, the very people I was terrified of," Firth commented.
However, it was a case of all's well that ends well after the actor famed for his role as Mr Darcy got back in, because he did not forget a single line.
"It was like a car crash but I managed to get to the end of the play," he added.
Firth's Love Actually co-star Keira Knightley revealed last week that she is to return to London's West End after a stint in The Misanthrope last year.
