Opera singer 'being considered' for role in Jersey Boys
Friday, 22 October 2010
Opera singer Jonathan Ansell is currently being considered for a role in the hit West End show Jersey Boys, it has been claimed.
According to Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye, the tenor could replace Stephen Ashfield in the musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, as he is considering moving to pastures new in spring 2011.
However, Ryan Molloy is intending to stay on in the lead role, the insider has heard.
Should Ansell not be available, it is also possible that Lee Mead or Ray Quinn could take on the part, as both have already achieved West End success in Wicked and Grease respectively.
Earlier this month, Ben Evans - who understudies Mr Molloy in Jersey Boys - told Wales on Sunday that he is loving his time in the show.
However, he did say that it is hard to get the catchy music out of his head when the curtains close after each performance.
