The 39 Steps gets Legoland tribute
Wednesday, 13 October 2010
West End stalwart The 39 Steps has received a high honour this week after it was revealed that Legoland in Windsor now has a tribute to the play and its London home.
As it enters its fifth year at the Criterion Theatre, cast members were invited to central London to look at the tiny replica of the venue, complete with miniature posters and details about The 39 Steps outside, BroadwayWorld.com reports.
It is all part of the Miniland section of the theme park, but this is the first time a West End theatre has featured in tiny Lego bricks.
Up to 20,000 bricks were used making the Piccadilly Circus section alone, while Miniland features a whopping 13 million building blocks.
David Bark-Jones, who plays Hannay in The 39 Steps, said: "Ripping stuff! It's a jolly good show and looks rather smart, small yet perfectly formed if you ask me."
In August, the same actor told Broadway.com he likes the play because it is charming, very British and thoroughly entertaining.
