Amanda Holden 'will dazzle crowds at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Shrek'
Friday, 10 September 2010
Amanda Holden is a "really good fit" to play Princess Fiona in the West End adaptation of Shrek at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
This is according to the show's director Rob Ashford, who told the Daily Mail that the Britain's Got Talent judge has the right sense of humour to pull off the role.
Shrek is not due to open at the Theatre Royal until June 7th 2010, but theatre fans are already hotly anticipating the stage version of the hit Oscar-winning film.
Discussing what audiences can expect from Holden, Ashford said that she combines good looks with strong acting skills.
"She's not a porcelain doll. She looks like one, but she isn't. She doesn't take herself too seriously - and neither does Princess Fiona," he commented.
Holden will be starring alongside Nigel Lindsay, who is taking the title role of the green ogre, and comic Richard Blackwood as Donkey in the production.
In the animated film series, Cameron Diaz voiced Princess Fiona while Eddie Murphy used his comic talents to great effect as Donkey.
