Deathtrap 'is sure to be a hit'
Wednesday, 8 September 2010
A theatre critic has said that new West End revival Deathtrap is an enjoyable evening's entertainment.
Henry Hitchings, writing for the London Evening Standard, commented that there are strong performances from the central cast members, especially Simon Russell Beale as Sidney.
However, Jonathan Groff and Claire Skinner were also praised for their "genial charm" and "suitably fussy" acting respectively.
Mr Hitchings said there is a lot of great detail in the presentation of Deathtrap, while the occasional moment of camp humour adds a welcome light touch.
"Its brand of unapologetically giddy entertainment makes it sure to be a hit," the critic concluded, giving the play four stars.
Earlier this month, Skinner told the Independent she was nervous, but also looking forward to treading the boards in Deathtrap.
She also said she thinks her role in the improvised BBC sitcom Outnumbered will help her with her character Myra.
Deathtrap is currently booking at the Noel Coward Theatre.
