Former Sister Act star informs fans of mother's death
Wednesday, 8 September 2010
Former Sister Act star Whoopi Goldberg has informed her fans that her mother passed away following her recent stroke.
The performer, who was forced to pull out of the West End musical on August 27th 2010, flew home to be at her mother's bedside in the US.
However, she told viewers of her chat show The View yesterday (September 7th) that the elderly lady was unable to recover from the effects of the aneurysm and died on August 29th.
Paying tribute to her, Goldberg commented: "I don't think she quite realised how many lives she touched. She was an extraordinary woman."
The Hollywood movie star had been due to play Mother Superior in Sister Act until August 31st, but her understudies stepped in to cover her until Sally Dexter took over on September 2nd.
Sister Act will be showing at the London Palladium until October 30th this year, when it will close to make room for The Wizard of Oz.
