Star of Wicked makes schoolgirl smile

Monday, 6 September 2010

Rachel Tucker, one of the stars of West End musical Wicked, made a little girl's day recently when she arranged to meet up with her.

Derry-born Abby Davidson, eight, is a huge fan of the show and has been to see it four times, according to the Derry Journal.

Before her most recent visit, she wrote to Ms Tucker to say she is a big admirer and was delighted to receive a reply.

What's more, the letter invited Abby and her auntie Lisa to meet Ms Tucker - aka Elpheba - outside the stage door of the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Abby said she was thrilled to meet her idol and is now determined to become a West End star herself.

"I'd love to be in the show one day. And I'd love to play Elpheba. My favourite song is Defying Gravity," she commented.

Last week, it was revealed that Wicked had been granted an extension to its booking period up until October 29th 2011.
