Nigel Lindsay and Nigel Harman confirmed for Shrek at Theatre Royal Drury Lane
Friday, 3 September 2010
It has been confirmed that Nigel Lindsay and Nigel Harman are to come to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane next year in order to star in the eagerly-anticipated musical Shrek.
Lindsay will appear as the grumpy green ogre himself, while Harman - who is perhaps most recognised for his stint in EastEnders - is to play Lord Farquaad.
They will both join the previously-announced Amanda Holden (Princess Fiona) and Richard Blackwood (Donkey) when the show opens in June 2011.
In a statement seen by Theatre Guide London, producers Bill Damaschke and Caro Newling said: "Nigel, Amanda, Nigel and Richard all blew us away with their audition performances and we knew that we had found our new London Shrek family."
It was revealed in July 2010 that Shrek will be similar to the musical which ran on Broadway from December 2008, but will have new songs, extra scenes and a "newly-styled dragon".
Shrek will succeed the popular show Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
