Celebrity Autobiography 'could come to London's West End'
Thursday, 2 September 2010
Edinburgh Festival hit Celebrity Autobiography could soon make its way to London's West End due to popular demand.
According to WhatsonStage.com, the show is close to announcing a transfer to the English capital thanks to rave reviews in Scotland and its consistent popularity in the US.
The premise of Celebrity Autobiography is simple - it involves actors such as Michael Uhrie from Ugly Betty and Phill Jupitus reading out excerpts from the memoirs of other famous faces.
However, the snippets are chosen for their unintentionally amusing nature or their vacuousness, so the celebs picked on include Peter Andre, David Hasselhoff and Elizabeth Taylor.
John Nicholson of the Mirror gave it five stars, calling it "an hour of fantastic entertainment" thanks to "cracking, well measured performances of the text".
It is not yet known if the same actors would read the excerpts if the show transfers, nor has a possible venue yet been revealed, but comedy fans may wish to look out for further news.
