Five Guys Named Moe to succeed Avenue Q at Wyndham's Theatre?
Wednesday, 1 September 2010
All-singing, all-dancing show Five Guys Named Moe could be set to follow Avenue Q into the Wyndham's Theatre soon.
According to WhatsonStage.com, the musical is likely to make a move to London's West End before Christmas, following excellent reviews for its recent revival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Five Guys Named Moe was written by Clarke Peters and was last seen in the West End in the early 1990s. It tells the story of a man named Nomax, who has recently split up with his girlfriend.
As he returns home one evening, he falls into his record player and Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe and Little Moe emerge, ready to sing songs by jazz saxophonist Louis Jordan to comfort him.
Hit songs include Early in the Morning, Choo, Choo, Ch'Boogie and Let the Good Times Roll, which Patrick Marmion of the Daily Mail recently said makes for a five-star musical.
"If this doesn't make it to London's West End, I'll eat my spats," he commented.
