Sheridan Smith extends run in Legally Blonde
Thursday, 26 August 2010
Sheridan Smith has extended her contract to play Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, it has been revealed.
According to BroadwayWorld.com, the actress will now stay in the musical at the Savoy Theatre until at least January 9th 2011, instead of October 2010 as originally planned.
This will put an end to widespread rumours that Smith was to leave the show soon and be replaced by another performer, possibly Jennifer Ellison, the Daily Mail had said.
Producer Sonia Friedman said she is delighted that Smith - who has been playing to packed houses since January - is staying on.
"I'm thrilled that the audiences love the show as much as I do. When Sonia asked me to stay for a little bit longer, I couldn't resist the thought of a pink, Chihuahua-filled Christmas," Smith added.
It has also been recently speculated that the actress could be earmarked to play the title character in the forthcoming West End show Bridget Jones's Diary.
