The 39 Steps 'is unashamedly entertaining'
Thursday, 26 August 2010
One of the actors in The 39 Steps has said people like it because it provides a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the theatre.
David Bark-Jones told Broadway.com the play is very traditionally English, which theatregoers find charming and "unashamedly entertaining".
"The overall impression is of a show that just wants people to enjoy themselves and to laugh at themselves and at life. There's a joy in it that I haven't found in any other thing I've done," he commented.
Mr Bark-Jones added that he has been amused and pleased to see fans of Wicked checking out The 39 Steps and waiting outside the stage door, as his co-star Dianne Pilkington was previously Glinda in the popular musical.
It was announced earlier in August that London theatre tickets for The 39 Steps will now be available for eight further months on top of the original booking period, taking it up to October 22nd 2011.
