London theatre tickets frenzy prompts Sister Act waxwork
Monday, 23 August 2010
The London theatre tickets frenzy created by Whoopi Goldberg's stint in West End musical Sister Act has prompted one tourist attraction to pay a special tribute to her.
Madame Tussauds in the capital recently unveiled a waxwork of the actress dressed in her Mother Superior outfit to go alongside likenesses of stars such as Barack Obama and Marilyn Monroe.
However, the sculptors have not had to work around the clock to get the figure done, because it is actually an old one redressed.
The original was once dressed in a silk trouser suit to replicate the outfit of her character in the 1990 movie Ghost, according to the official website.
Earlier this month, Henry Hitchings of the London Evening Standard said Goldberg manages to be both "stately and suggestive" in Sister Act.
Goldberg will be appearing in the musical until August 31st 2010, when she will be replaced by Sally Dexter as the head nun.
