Sweet Charity 'was a fun night at the theatre'
Friday, 20 August 2010
Sweet Charity has been recommended to London theatre fans by one American critic who recently went to see it.
Matt Palm, writing for the Orlando Sentinel, said he found Tamzin Outhwaite in the lead role to have a "sunny smile, warm personality and chipper American accent" that made the musical "worth rooting for".
He also praised her chemistry with Mark Umbers, who plays all three male characters in the show at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Mr Palm concluded by saying that Sweet Charity features great songs and enthusiastic dancing that make for "a fun night at the theatre".
Earlier this month, Outhwaite was forced to pull out of Sweet Charity for two nights after she fell while dancing in the show.
The former EastEnder hurt her ankle and was ordered to rest by her doctor, but bravely managed to get back onto the stage a few nights later, despite a slight limp.
