Denise Van Outen to join Legally Blonde?

It has been rumoured that Denise Van Outen could be set to join West End musical Legally Blonde.
According to WhatsonStage.com, both Sheridan Smith (Elle) and Jill Halfpenny (Paulette) will be leaving the musical this October, meaning new actresses will be required for both roles.
It is thought that Van Outen may be in talks to join the cast as shy beautician Paulette, who comforts Elle after she is dumped by callous boyfriend Warner for another woman.
Should this be correct, it would not be the first time the TV favourite has trod the boards of the West End.
Van Outen has starred in both Chicago and Tell Me On a Sunday to critical acclaim.
Meanwhile, it has been suggested by the theatre gossip portal that Laura Bell Bundy - who played Elle on Broadway - could be set to step into Smith's shoes, although her new role in sitcom How I Met Your Mother could mean this is unfeasible.
Van Outen's husband Lee Mead is currently appearing in the West End musical Wicked while she looks after their baby daughter Betsy.
