The Wizard of Oz features in list of favourite family films ever
Tuesday, 3 August 2010
The Wizard of Oz, soon to hit London as a musical, has been placed in a list of the best family films ever.
In a poll carried out by the Radio Times, the 1939 classic starring Judy Garland was second only to ET in the hearts of the public, with Mary Poppins coming in third.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the original Toy Story rounded out the top five in the list.
Interestingly, Shrek - which is also now being made into a musical for London theatres next year - also made its mark on the rankings, claiming sixth place.
The Wizard of Oz is to open at the London Palladium on March 1st 2010 and London theatre tickets for the show are available now.
It stars Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Hope as Dorothy and Dangerous Dave the miniature schnauzer as her beloved Toto, while WhatsonStage.com recently reported that West End regular Hannah Waddingham could be in line to play the Wicked Witch of the East.
