Ghost Stories 'is thought provoking and engaging'
Monday, 2 August 2010
The creepy, tense atmosphere created by West End play Ghost Stories has been praised by one London theatre critic.
Maddy Costa, writing for the Guardian, said the production team really knows how to crank up the tension, with eerie noises played in the Duke of York's theatre before the show even starts.
However, she pointed out it is the tricks the minds of the theatregoers play on themselves which causes Ghost Stories to be so thought-provoking and emotionally moving.
"The show manipulates our senses so effectively that it makes us unusually aware of the physicality of the people around us, too: of held breaths and nerves coursing with adrenaline," Ms Costa added.
She concluded by saying anyone with London theatre tickets to see the show should watch out for Andy Nyman as the sceptical parapsychologist, as he plays the role engagingly.
Last month, Matthew Jenkin of the News Shopper said Ghost Stories really made him jump and also praised the ending for being "brilliantly clever".
