Jonathan Groff in training for Deathtrap scenes
Friday, 30 July 2010
Jonathan Groff, one of the stars of the forthcoming play Deathtrap, has revealed the cast are currently rehearsing the fight scenes.
The Glee actor told theatre gossip columnist Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail he is trying to get fit for the role and is running in London's parks, riding his bike to the West End and working out in the gym when he is not rehearsing.
"At the moment, we're miming the combat scenes. We haven't used any of the real weapons yet. For now the handcuffs are made of duct tape," he commented.
Groff also said he leaves the Noel Coward Theatre each day with a headache after trying to get into the characters' minds in great detail.
Deathtrap opens officially on September 7th 2010 and in the meantime, Groff has been checking out other West End offerings such as War Horse, as well as hanging out with his friend Patina Miller from Sister Act.
First shown in 1978, Deathtrap is a thriller that was also made into a film starring Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve.
