Shirley Valentine 'is entertaining and enjoyable'
Wednesday, 28 July 2010
Shirley Valentine has been recommended to London theatre fans by one critic who recently went to see it.
Writing for London Theatre Guide, Peter Brown said the play is great fun and has some really moving moments.
It tells the story of a middle-aged housewife named Shirley (Meera Syal) who is unhappy with her lot in life, but is offered the chance to get away from it all with a girls-only holiday in Greece.
Mr Brown said Syal is thoroughly entertaining and manages to completely hold her own in the one-woman show.
"Ms Syal's excellent comic timing makes sure that all Willy Russell's lines hit the mark spot on and her bubbly personality draws us all in like a magnet," he enthused.
The critic concluded by calling Shirley Valentine an entertaining and enjoyable play and encouraged people to go and see it.
Shirley Valentine is currently booking at Trafalgar Studios 1 until October 30th 2010.
