Barbara Windsor: I'd like to do a musical now
Wednesday, 28 July 2010
After filming her final scenes for EastEnders earlier this month, Barbara Windsor is now reportedly keen to try her hand at London theatre again.
The veteran actress - Peggy Mitchell in the long-running soap - has not appeared on stage for a number of years, but had roles in musicals such as Sing a Rude Song and Oh, What a Lovely War! in her youth.
Now, according to WhatsonStage.com, Windsor is "looking at new options", commenting: "I quite like the idea of doing a musical."
However, she did not drop a hint as to which show she would be keen to star in.
A number of former soap stars have been appearing in West End shows lately, including Jason Donovan, who starred in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert until last month.
Meanwhile, Anna Friel took a role in Breakfast at Tiffany's last year and Ali Bastian of Hollyoaks fame is now appearing in Burn the Floor.
