A theatre critic has discovered how much London theatre fans love Dreamboats and Petticoats after going to see the show himself.
Quentin Letts of the Daily Mail headed to the Playhouse Theatre to see Tony Christie in the musical and said he found some very enthusiastic ladies watching alongside him.
Admitting he was whacked at least once by his dancing neighbours, Mr Letts said they "boogied" throughout, clicking their fingers and dancing in their seats during the first act.
However, after the interval - and particularly when Christie appeared to sing Is This the Way to Amarillo - the critic said there was no stopping them.
"They were up on their feet, bouncing around with abandon," he recalled.
Mr Letts praised the singer for his big numbers and also singled out Emma Stephens and Alexis Gerred as other excellent performers in the show.
Last month, Christie said he was thrilled to be joining Dreamboats and Petticoats, telling Official London Theatre he had been searching for a gap in his diary so he could become a cast member for months.
