Legally Blonde star joins in with Big Dance fun
Dance fans are being encouraged to try it themselves by Sheridan Smith and other famous faces.
Thursday, 1 July 2010
Sheridan Smith of Legally Blonde was among the West End stars helping to launch the annual T-Mobile Big Dance event today (July 1st 2010).
The ten-day dance festival aims to encourage people to participate in one of 800 activities all over the country between July 3rd and 11th 2010, Official London Theatre reports.
Kicking off the festivities at the London Palladium this morning was mayor Boris Johnson, who said dance can help people to forget their inhibitions and make new friends.
To the amusement of the audience, he also tried his hand at some funky moves of his own, before making way for a performance by dance captains from some of London's hottest shows.
After their inspiring version of Hairspray's You Can't Stop the Beat, Smith commented: "I know first-hand from Legally Blonde that our dance captains do an amazing job. They know everyone's part, I can just remember my own."
Anyone hoping to check out a dance-based show in London could try Stomp, Tap Dogs, Billy Elliot or the forthcoming Burn the Floor.
