Two London theatres have been highlighted as potential venues for the West End version of Shrek the Musical.
According to WhatsonStage.com, rumours are rife that either the Theatre Royal Drury Lane or the Palace Theatre could be perfect for hosting the UK version of the show, which premiered on Broadway back in December 2008.
The former is currently showing Oliver!, which is booking until February 26th 2011, while the latter is the home of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert until May 28th 2011.
However, either of these shows may be transferred to different theatres in the same manner as Avenue Q was recently to avoid them closing altogether.
Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail recently suggested that Michael Ball could be set to take on the role of grumpy green ogre Shrek after revealing that DreamWorks' Jeffrey Katzenberg was impressed by his performance in Hairspray.
The UK stage version will be directed by Sam Mendes' company Neal Street Productions and DreamWorks.
