A young boy from Exeter has won a coveted part in the hit West End musical Billy Elliot, despite not having any previous tap dancing experience.
Reece Barrett, 12, wanted to star in a musical and went along to auditions for Billy Elliot this year, the Herald Express reports.
Although he was not an experience dancer, the producers spotted his potential and booked him on an intensive 12-week dance course with acclaimed choreographer Pollyanna Buckingham.
He then went back for a second audition and was told that he had won the part of Billy's best friend Michael.
"We had a horrible week of waiting but he got the part of Michael. It's great news," said Ms Buckingham.
Reece will begin starring in Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre in September 2010.
Billy Elliot features a score written by Elton John and won a record ten Tony Awards back in 2009.
