Catherine Zeta Jones has revealed that she longed to appear in the film version of Chicago which was released in 2002.
The actress, who eventually won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Velma Kelly in the production, told the Daily Mail she was desperate to get the part.
"Did I want this role? That's like saying, 'did I want to wake up in the morning wanting to breathe?'," she joked.
Zeta Jones, who is now starring on Broadway, appeared opposite Renee Zellweger in the movie and famously picked up her Academy Award while heavily pregnant after it proved to be a huge hit.
Meanwhile, Chicago is still going strong at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End, where it first opened in 1997.
Former EastEnder Emma Barton - aka Honey Mitchell - is currently playing Roxie Hart, while Vivien Carter is starring as Velma Kelly.
Smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn is being portrayed by Terence Maynard.
